Marianne Fassler @ Africa Fashion Week 2010

South African award winning designer Marianne Fassler just joined my list of favorite African designers. Her collection at the Africa fashion week 2010 looked like stuff pulled out from an episode of The Flintstones. I love the playful nature of the collection and the way she beautifully crafted the pieces together. It just further proves that when trash is presented skillfully it becomes art.

David Tlale Menswear @ Africa Fashion Week 2010

South African designer David Tlale known better for his women’s clothing features a menswear collection along with the women’s during this year’s Africa Fashion week. The collection like that for the women features flamboyant colors with details such as embroidery and pleats. Decent collection, but I expected more from him.

Nigerian Designer Deola Sagoe @ Africa Fashion Week 2010

Polka dots, folds, ruffles, glitter, see through fabric and uber cleavage revealing dresses were the mainstay of Nigerian designer Deola Sagoe’s collection. I found the collection very seductive and it’s definitely for women who have spent those hours working out in the gym and watching what they eat.

Kem Kem Studio Debut @ Temple Muse

Kemmy Oguntosin Solomon’s debut of the Gatsby Collection from her label Kem Kem Studio exclusively for upscale boutique Temple Muse last Saturday was a success by all ramifications as both fashion insiders and fashionistas came out to see the pieces. The color tone was classic and the designs included a chandelier top and lace skirt (pictured above), a silk/lace draped dress and a chiffon jersey dress (pictured below). They are available in limited quantity.

Tanzanian label Sheria Ngowi designs run by Sheria Ngowi released its spring summer menswear collection a few months back featuring sharp tailored pieces and fabrication ranging from check to plaid in dandyish vibrant colors.
