Camo Spring/Summer 2010

Yet another international label referencing Africa; Italian Label Camo, in their spring summer 2010 menswear collection referenced Northern Africa. Their designs have a somewhat desert inspired nomadic vibe reminiscent of northern Africa and the Middle East.

My Leopard Print Shoes

I know y’all missed me :p I missed you too. I’d try not to stay this long again without posting stuff for all my darlings. On to new things, I always wanted leopard print shoes and had searched online on my various e-trek’s and even stores with no luck. So I decided to take the bull by the horn and went down the bespoke lane.

Pop Africana Magazine...J'aime Beaucoup

Semi annual fashion and art magazine Pop Africana’s 1st issue is a must have for all fashion enthusiasts of African descent. You might know the editor in chief and creative director Oroma Elewa from the Pop Africana Blog -which is her visual diary of all things arty and funky- who’s also a stylist and photographer. I have no intention to lend out mine; in fact I don’t take it out of my house as I was lucky enough to snatch d last copy at CCA, Lagos and its been a source of inspiration.

Sneak Peek into Sheria Ngowi Designs SS11 Collection

Tanzanian menswear designer Sheria Ngowi just released a few images from his namesake label’s spring summer 2011 collection to whet our appetites. I love the sharp cuts and fabrication; I hope to see more interesting shirts when the final collection drops.

Duro Olowu Fall/Winter 2010

London based designer of Nigerian descent, Duro Olowu impressed me with this collection most especially for his use of color. The pieces are trendy and I got to commend the team of the stylist & photographer. They managed to create a stunning Lookbook; this should serve as a pointer to other designers. This is what your Lookbook should look like if you want people to look at it without getting a migraine :o)

Kosibah @ Africa Fashion Week New York

Yemi Osunkoya the Couture Bridal and Eveningwear designer and owner of Kosibah showed a few of his designs at the Africa Fashion Week in NY last month. Known for his signature use of corsetry and draping, he stepped up his game by using an interesting mix of fabrics and as usual the silhouettes were flattering and the intricate patterns on some of the dresses were a pleasure to see.

LDA 2010 Summer Collection

Bella Naija shares with us images of the Lanre Da Silva Ajayi summer collection shot by Moussa Moussa and styled by my colleague at FAB magazine, Tayo Shonekan. I heart most of the pieces and I find the Victorian feel to be very romantic. It’s not enough to create beautiful clothes, you also need excellent skills of presentation and this collection was not lacking in that aspect.
